Gemini Rigel chainrings are the most innovative and technologically advanced on the market, dedicated to the most demanding bikers who want the maximum in terms of performance and exclusivity. They are single chainrings directly mounted on the cranks (Direct Mount), available in various toothings and with various attachment standards. They have got 3 mm offset (perfect for the Boost 148 mm standard).
Rigel chainrings are made of forged carbon compacted at very high pressure (over 100 tons) with a technology derived from the Hypercars sector. But the real added value is represented by the construction methodology which includes an internal 7075T6 aluminum alloy core CNC milled with the profile of the teeth which are then covered with carbon fibers specifically oriented to follow the teeth profile.
This is a construction methodology patented by Gemini which allows to obtain a chainring that is significantly lighter and stiffer than an aluminum chainring, which retains the same characteristics of resistance and durability (thanks to the internal aluminum core of the teeth) while adding better smoothness and noiselessly (the carbon coating of the teeth in fact reduces friction).
The carbon coating of the teeth is very resistant as the fibers have been arranged and oriented in the best possible way, i.e. wrapping it following the main direction of effort. No other construction method such as normal layering or milling allows this continuity and consequently resistance. The toothing is of the Narrow-Wide type alternating wide tooth with narrow tooth and is phased correctly on the chain links allowing perfect retention of the same without the need to use chain guide devices.
The closed type design, in addition to being more aerodynamic, avoids the accumulation of dirt, and the particular shape of the rib that characterizes the wider teeth also facilitates the expulsion flow. Every little detail in Rigel chainrings is not left to chance.
The finish of the Rigel chainrings is in natural forged carbon which is simply polished, the graphics are imprinted during the molding phase and are therefore permanent. The final aesthetic impact generated by the mix of design and materials is certainly unique in the current cycling panorama and makes Rigel chainrings even more particular and exclusive.
The Rigel chainrings are made in various teeth: 30T-32T-34T-36T-38T and with different cranks attachment standards : Sram 3 bolts, Sram 8 bolts, Shimano, Race Face/Easton Cinch, Cannondale Hollowgram (to fix Rigel chainrings only the original hardware that came with the cranks is required).
Compatibility is ensured with all 11-12s single-chainring transmission systems, both Sram and Shimano, including the Sram T-Type AXS groupsets (XX SL, XX, X0) and the various 11-12s chains on the market (Sram flattop included). The offset of the Rigel chainrings is equal to 3 mm and makes them perfect for the 148 mm Boost systems chainline.
It is very important to ensure that the Rigel chainrings are mounted on cranks optimized for chainrings with 3mm offset, this to guarantee the correct chain line and the consequent optimal functioning of the transmission. Just to give an example, if you need to mount Rigel chainrings for 8-hole Sram on Sram cranks of the Eagle transmission series (XX SL, XX, XO) check that you're changing a stock 3 mm offset chainring and not a 0 mm offset one. The chainring offset is laser etched on the back of the chainring.
With weights starting from just 39 grams (30T Sram 3 bolts), the Rigel chainrings are the lightest Direct Mount on the market, as well as having a series of other superior characteristics (stiffness, smoothness, noiselessly, etc.) and an attractive and exclusive look worthy of a product of true excellence.
Rigel chainrings are the result of a long and meticulous development process that lasted over 3 years with over 500 prototypes and thousands of km of tests ridden by highly competitive riders on the most demanding tracks. It is therefore not a showcase product but a truly innovative component made by a serious company equipped with advanced technologies.
The main doubt that could afflict the majority of potential buyers is about the durability of these chainrings, although this data is not really quantifiable (it depends on too many factors...rider power, tracks, conditions of use, maintenance etc.) we feel reassure you by making you think about the construction technology and the presence of the internal 7075T6 aluminum core. The duration will probably be similar to a normal aluminum chainring, obviously since it is a racing, refined and expensive product it is necessary to pay the necessary attention such as using a new chain when fitting a Rigel chainring and trying to keep the transmission as clean as possible using dry lubricants which better avoid the deposit of abrasive material.
Gemini products are artisanal products, handmade and offered with different degrees of customization both in terms of size, lamination and finishes offered. Keeping a complete warehouse of all the available variables is sometimes difficult even for Gemini itself, which usually does not keep stock but makes to order.
The products we have available in stock are indicated as "IN STOCK". All other combinations that do not bear this indication, but the indication "TO ORDER" must be ordered specifically with average supply times as indicated in the product page (please contact us anyway for an updated estimate of waiting times).
These products are to be considered made to order and therefore fall outside the canonical right of withdrawal for remote sales and require full advance payment. Cash on delivery is therefore excluded for this type of product.
Rigel chainrings, like all Gemini products, are proudly designed, developed and handcrafted in Barcelona, Spain.
