Extralite CyberDisc 340c Road Disc Clincher/Tubeless Wheels with AeroWide hooked asymmetric Toray carbon fiber rims (40 mm height, 28 mm wide, 23 mm inner channel, 2 mm offset), Extralite CyberDisc SPD-3+ hubs, aluminum DSN nipples and straight-pull spokes (24/24). You can choose from : Hyperlite Triple Butted Bladed spokes (995 gr. wheels) ; Berd textile Dyneema spokes (925 gr. wheels) ; UD Carbon/Titanium spokes (898 gr. wheels). Many freewheel standards available (Shimano, Sram, Campagnolo...), quick release or 12 mm thru axles both. ABI steel, ABI Stainless Steel, Hyper Ceramic HyC or XD-15 ceramic bearings option. Center-Lock or 6 holes I.S. disc brake rotor attachment standard. "Stealth" look with UD matte rims, glossy black sticker decals, black anodized hubs and black spokes.

With weights starting from just 890 grams per pair (carbon/titanium spokes, HyC bearings, XDR freehub body, QR12 axles, +/- 2% tolerance), the Extralite CyberDisc 340 C wheels are among the lightest in the world!

These are clincher/tubeless disc wheels for road racing use, assembled with 24 straight-pull spokes on both the front and rear, it is possible to choose between three types of spokes:

And among 5 types of freewheel bodies for the rear hub:

It is also possible to choose the standard of the wheel axles between classic quick release or for 12 mm thru axles.

The look of these wheels is "stealth" with matte UD rims and glossy black adhesive graphics, black anodized hubs and black spokes and nipples. Despite the record weight and, contrary to what one might think, these are very robust and reliable wheels as well as high performance.

The AeroWide rims are of the hooked type with anti-bead safety tooth and have an asymmetric profile with a 2 mm offset to optimize the camber of the wheel and better balance the tension of the spokes, thus obtaining a more balanced and consequently reliable wheel. They are characterized by an aerodynamic teardrop shape with a profile height of 40 mm, an external width of 28 mm and an internal channel of 23 mm according to the most modern trends.

The AeroWide rims are compatible with 28" tubeless tires both with and without an inner tube (the rim sides are hooked with a retaining tooth so the rims are also compatible with traditional non-tubeless clincher tires) and are for brakes disc (therefore they have no braking surface). The AeroWide rims are monolithic and produced using high quality Toray carbon fibre.

The big size then guarantees great lateral and torsional stiffness and allows the use of wider tires (up to 32 mm) with a greater air volume which allow travel at lower operating pressures with consequent high performance (better grip and traction, greater comfort and lower risk of punctures).

The CyberDisc 340 C wheel hubs are the latest evolution of what is now a classic for light bikers and an "obligatory" choice to create a pair of ultra-light wheels with adequate reliability, we are talking about the Extralite CyberHubs SPD 3+.

The Extralite CyberHubs SPD 3+ are true masterpieces of CNC and precision mechanics. They are made of finely machined 7075TXX aluminum alloy to obtain perfect and sinuous shapes. They adopt Straight Pull technology which allows the use of straight head spokes, which are more performing and reliable and allow the creation of lighter and stiffer wheels without the typical weak points of bent head j-bend spokes.

CyberHubs SPD 3+ hubs comes equipped with the excellent Enduro ABEC5 sealed steel bearings with double protection to guarantee maximum resistance to corrosion even in the most severe conditions of use with a consequent superior durability thanks also to the presence of an external bearing preload adjustment system which allows easily find the perfect smoothness without causing premature wear. Also available as options are stainless steel bearings, Hyper Ceramic HyC hybrid ceramics and XD-15 full ceramics which have superior corrosion resistance characteristics and also superior smoothness in the case of the ceramic versions.

Our advice, if your budget allows it, is to opt for Hyper Ceramic HyC bearings which are among the best on the market and offer truly remarkable guarantees of durability and smoothness.

The freewheel system consists of a classic tooth system with a 32-engagement titanium ring nut for an always ready and fluid action. The maximum transmission ratio allowed by the system is 1:1, i.e. the number of teeth on the largest pinion cog must not exceed that of the smallest chainring.

The CyberFront and CyberRear SPD 3+ hubs are specific for use with disc brakes (Center-Lock or International Standard 6-hole disc brake rotor attachment, please specify your preference inside order notes), usable not only on the road but also in the CicloCross and Gravel sector thanks to an excellent dirt protection system and sealed bearings.

Another exclusive feature of the CyberDisc 340 C wheels is the possibility to choose between three different types of spokes in order to obtain three products that not only differ in final weight but also in technical characteristics and driving style.

The use of the revolutionary Berd Dyneema textile spokes (made in the USA) brings with it several advantages despite being decidedly more expensive and complex to install. Berd spokes are made from an advanced polymer called ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) also known as Dyneema. Dyneema has 12 times the strength-to-weight ratio of steel and floats on water. This is what makes Berd spokes among the lightest, strongest and most durable ever invented!. Thanks to the use of this special material. With just 2.5 grams per spoke, Berd spokes are among the lightest in the world and allow you to save several tens of grams compared to even the lightest steel spokes. As is known, the weight saved on the rotating masses is much more important and generates greater benefits than elsewhere.

Despite their significantly lower weight, Berd spokes have even better mechanical characteristics than traditional steel spokes: greater tensile strength, less elongation, greater resistance to corrosion and atmospheric agents. Furthermore, they have a great capacity to dampen vibrations and impacts, therefore they create very comfortable and very resistant wheels that are free from the fatigue life problems typical of metals. The greater comfort does not come at the expense of either overall rigidity or reactivity which remain at the top of the category.

Superlight spokes but also very reliable and long-lasting (straight-pull spokes are already more resistant as they do not have the classic bent head, which is the typical weak point of traditional spokes), several laboratory tests have confirmed their positive effect on the overall wheel which is overall more resistant and better able to absorb impacts without suffering permanent damage.

Wheels assembled with Berd spokes are built with a specific process that involves pre-tensioning the spokes with a dedicated machine and gradual tensioning over several days to reduce the amount of tension loss that will occur after installing the wheels on a bicycle. Despite this, the tension in wheels with Berd spokes will decrease by approximately 20-30% in the first 6 months of use due to the natural settling process of the fibers (the phenomenon is known as "Creep") but, unlike metal spokes, they will retain all their strength regardless of tension. This loss of tension does not affect the life or longevity of Berd spoked wheels and there is no need to increase the tension. In fact, the stiffness of the wheels depends weakly on the tension of the spokes (less than 10%), if desired you can still proceed with re-tensioning after about 6 months.

The Carbon UD/Titanium spokes, on the other hand, are a rather recent innovation at least with similar dimensions and technical characteristics. In fact, these are spokes similar to traditional steel spokes with an oval section and smaller dimensions compared to the carbon spokes seen up to now. The main part of the spoke is made of UD carbon fiber while the end parts with the thread are made of titanium with a black finish. This mix allows them to be used with traditional hubs and rims, obtaining record weights (even lighter than textile spokes) and a higher tensile strength than steel spokes.

The wheels assembled with Carbon UD/Titanium spokes, in addition to being the lightest option, are also the option that guarantees maximum rigidity, reactivity and driving precision, obviously to the detriment of comfort and stress on hubs and rims. They are therefore suitable for hard and pure competitive use and for those who want the absolute maximum in lightness and performance.

The triple-butted bladed steel spokes, on the other hand, are the most classic solution suitable for those who are faithful to tradition and prefer neutral behavior of the wheels and greater ease of management/maintenance. Clearly they are among the lightest and best performing steel spokes available on the market, an excellent compromise from all economic and performance points of view.

The nipples are made of aluminum, "double square" type, ideal for better adapting to the rim seat and are equipped with an anti-unscrewing system, they are black in colour.

With weights starting at just 890 grams per pair, the Extralite CyberDisc 340 C wheels are among the lightest wheels for disc brakes on the market! The value is more impressive when compared to the size and characteristics of the rims with which they are assembled. These weights are subject to a natural tolerance of 2%. These are indicative weights and are subject to variations by the individual components that make up the wheel assembly.

The CyberDisc 340 C wheels represent absolute excellence, the record result in terms of weight is not their only advantage, the difference in terms of reactivity and smoothness is certainly significantly noticeable, the combination of these characteristics make them dynamically exceptional , by using them you realize that they are worth every penny spent and that contrary to what you might be inclined to think, they are very resistant and reliable.
