Extralite Hyper BB BSA MTB/Road bottom bracket 68-73 mm specific for cranks equipped with with 29 mm axle diameter (Sram DUB or compatible) or 30 mm axle diameter (THM Clavicula, GrigioCarbonio, Rotor, Race Face etc.). The very external positioning of the bearings and the large diameter ensure superior torsional rigidity of the cranks and longer life of the bearings themselves. It is a very high-end product made in Italy, with great attention to detail and optimized weight.
The kit include two bearing cups and two sealed bearings. The cups are made of 7075T6 aluminum machined from solid material through CNC machining and equipped with a BSA type thread suitable for frames with a bottom bracket shell with both a width of 68 mm and 73 mm (87 mm total wide on a 68 mm and 92 mm total wide on bottom bracket shell on a 73 mm bottom bracket), the finish is black anodized. The 29 mm axle DUB version include also special adpters Delrin CNC machined (black color) and a 2.5 mm spacer.
The seat for inserting the tightening tool is not external but internal. To mount the Hyper BB bottom bracket cups it is necessary to remove the bearings and use specific tools for cartridge bottom brackets such as Octalink or ISIS (type Shimano TL-UN70, TL-UN74-S etc.) which are not included with the bottom bracket. Do not exceed 20 Nm of tightening torque.
The Extralite Hyper BB BSA bottom bracket uses the highest quality 6806 (30x42x7 mm) industrial bearings, available with the following options:
- ABI-Enduro Standard (the cheapest solution, great impact resistance and excellent durability especially in dry conditions)
- ABi-Enduro Stainless (stainless steel guarantees greater resistance to corrosion, making them the optimal choice in wet conditions)
- HyC Hyper Ceramic (The ceramic spheres guarantee greater smoothness, lower weight, and excellent general performance)
- XD-15 Ceramic (Added to the characteristics of HyC are greater durability, they are completely regenerable)
The weight of the Extralite Hyper BB BSA bottom bracket is only 65 grams (30 mm axle version with HyC Hyper Ceramic or XD-15 bearings) making it one of the lightest bottom brackets on the market. This result is achieved safely, without resorting to cheap plastic cups which are lighter but also more delicate and less precise in terms of tolerances and consequent operating precision.
