The Carbon-Ti X-DirectDisc 8-hole 3mm offset are round single chainrings made of aluminium, designed to be used in 11-12s single chainring systems. They are Direct Mount chainrings that mount directly on cranks equipped with a standard 8-bolt Sram connection (Eagle XX SL, Eagle XX, Eagle XO, Eagle GX, etc.). To fix them, use the original bolts supplied with the cranks.
The X-DirectDisc 8-hole 3 mm offset chainrings are made from a solid piece using sophisticated numerical control machining starting from a sheet of aeronautical aluminum alloy (7075T6). This very hard material guarantees a significantly longer lifespan than a normal aluminum chainring and helps to limit one of the typical problems of single-chainring systems : the premature wear of the chainring itself.
The X-DirectDisc 8-hole 3 mm offset are equipped with a special toothing synchronized with the internal impression of the chain links which allows them to function even without the chain guide. Maximum operating reliability in this sense, however, is guaranteed exclusively with rear derailleurs equipped with a clutch like all modern Sram Eagle or Shimano Shadow Plus derailleurs.
The special millings are present on both the external and internal side of the chainring and by alternating wide tooth with narrow tooth they phase correctly on the chain links allowing perfect retention of the chain. Not only the width of the tooth is important, but also its inclination and exit angle and Carbon-Ti in designing the X-DirectDisc 8-hole 3mm offset chainrings left nothing to chance.
The profile of the teeth is in fact bevelled in such a way as to facilitate use with the outermost sprockets, i.e. the first and last of the sprocket cassette which are notoriously the most critical but often also the most used. The refined and optimized design allows for very low friction of use and consequent silence with optimal functioning even in the most demanding conditions of intense mud. The "closed" structure then guarantees greater stiffness and prevents accumulations of dirt or the entry of foreign bodies.
The finish of the chainrings is black anodized, the graphics are lasered etched. The available teeth are: 30T-32T-34T-36T-38T, compatibility is ensured with all cranks equipped with Direct Mount chainring connection with Sram standard 8 bolts and with all 11-12s single-chainring transmission systems, both Sram and Shimano, including Sram T-Type and Shimano Hyperglide+ chains.
The X-DirectDisc 8-hole 3 mm offset chainrings have an offset equal to 3 mm and are the natural replacement for chainrings with the same offset, thus maintaining the original chain line unchanged. Speaking of the new Sram Eagle transmission groupsets (XX SL, XX, XO, GX), X-DirectDisc 8-hole 3 mm offset mantain 55 mm stock chainline on cranks with 174 mm Q-Factor, or 52 mm chainline if mounted on cranks with 168 mm Q-Factor (to obtain a 55 mm chainline on cranks with a 168 mm Q-Factor it is necessary to purchase the X-DirectDisc 8 holes in the 0 mm offset version).
The offset of the original chainring is usually indicated with a laser engraved lettering on the back of the chainring. For any type of technical doubt relating to offset, chainline and compatibility, do not hesitate to contact us before purchasing.
The X-DirectDisc 8-hole 3 mm offset chainrings are also compatible with some cranks from the previous series of Sram Eagle XX1 groupsets, in particular those created to mount Quarq power meters equipped with an 8-bolt connection. In this case they generate a chainline of 52 mm.
With weights starting from 58 grams (30T), thanks to the optimized design, the X-DirectDisc 8-hole 3 mm offset chainrings are among the lightest of their type and are also aesthetically very appealing with a racing and elegant look at the same time same. The original packaging, in addition to the chainring, also includes the instruction manual in two languages (Italian and English), all in an elegant protective rigid cardboard box.
