Gelu Carbon creation F1 it's an ultralight carbon fiber saddle developed for road racing use (competitive or not). It's 100% handmade in Portugal with high quality materials and standards and offer the best performance possible with a great comfort at the same time too.
The most evident characteristic of the F1 saddle is its innovative and unusual design. The rails are integrated in the front saddle nose area, at the rear end this is a curved blade-shaped spring made up of several layers of UD carbon, which is positioned longitudinally. This saddle works almost like a second skin, because thanks to its bending ability. It never stops in contact with the rider's rear even on the most damaged floors.
It's endearing design isn't only for appearance but gives an high aerodynamic efficiency and also a great comfort due to the central depression (more than 30 mm wide) that unload prostate zone avoiding compression problems and assure fresh air in the "sensible zones". The design impiles fitting the saddle into the bones of the basin following its inclination at about 3 to 4 cm on each side, while leaving the tips of the ischia without any pressure. To achieve this, the side flaps of the saddle has got the same curvature as the bony structure of the basin at this point was crucial the intervention of an orthopedic doctor (all Gelu saddles are orthopedically certified).
Rounded edges and smooth side walls gives a great feeling without any problems also after position changing. Lightly raised rear end help to keep the rider in position avoiding sliding sensation, typical for flat carbon fiber saddles.
Gelu F1 saddle is 245 mm long and 122 mm wide, has got a wide front end with the anatomical center of the saddle (where it's 72 mm wide) at about 120 mm from the front nose.
The rails are integrated and has got oval shape, made of high module reinforced carbon fibers molded with high pressure to assure a great resistance, they could be tightened up to 5 Nm. There are also two bridges between saddle rails which allows a great torsional stiffness and also adds a nice look. The rails has got more than 90 mm range of horizontal regulation, this is really a wide range!. Saddle body height is about 32 mm.
Gelu F1 saddle is compatible with all 2 bolts longitudinal regulation seatposts and with single bolt transversal regulation seatposts that are equipped with clamps specific for elliptical rails carbon fiber saddles (7x10 mm). Also saddle body is high module carbon fiber made. Gelu Carbon choose only top quality fibers and resin. There's a big hole in the middle of the saddle which save some weight but also allows a better ventilation. Gelu F1 saddle is designed for road racing use for riders up to 95 kg. F1 saddle has got natural 3k carbon fiber finishing. The customer can choose glossy or matte finishing. We usually sell saddles with black decals but for all the saddles that aren't in stock and that we have to order from Gelu, you can choose decals color. The special UHS coating is sunlight proof and also provide protection against the impact of stones, mud, water...
Gelu F1 saddle weight could change due to saddle finishing and normal resin tolerance (+/- 5%), matte finishing version weighs around 80 grams.
That's an incredible weight, especially for the great saddle comfort and for the saddle type, is surely the lightest spring saddle in the world! The real goal is a clever design with a great anatomic shape mixed to an intelligent use of composite materials. The reduced weight on a saddle has a direct influence on the performance of a bicycle, especially when standing, sprinting or climbing, as it almost completely eliminates the pendulum effect and helps to lower the center of gravity, making it much more stable above all with the wet floor.
