The Extralite HyperLefty 3 is a light and refined front hub for MTB use (XC, Marathon, All Mountain, Trail, Enduro) equipped with the Lefty 2.0 standard, therefore compatible only with Lefty 2.0, Lefty Ocho and Lefty SuperMax forks. The brake disc rotor attachment is the classic 6-hole International Standard.

It is a hub equipped with Straight-Pull flanges for straight pull spokes which guarantee greater wheel stiffness, less lateral flexibility and greater reactivity in transmitting the drive torque. It is possible to choose between 24-spoke or 28-spoke flanges. The sizing of the hub body is such as to ensure the best possible balance of the spoke tension on both sides of the wheel and allows the use of spokes of the same length on both sides of the wheel and on both wheels.

The hub body is entirely machined from solid through sophisticated CNC numerical control machining from a special 7075Txx aluminum bar, shapes and thicknesses are optimized to provide the best compromise between strength and weight with a truly captivating look. The self-extracting tightening bolt and the ring nut that keeps it in place are also made with the same material and philosophy. The hub body has a black anodized finish with white laser graphics, while the tightening bolt has an hard anodized finish (for greater durability and strength). The ring nut that keeps it in place is instead anodized in red.

The HyperLefty 3 hub rotates on a pair of 2RS double protection sealed bearings. The bearings fitted as standard are excellent ABI 440c stainless steel with great resistance to corrosion and consequently suitable for MTB use, especially in severe conditions with water and mud. The HDC (heavy Duty Ceramic) hybrid ceramic bearings can also be fitted as an option. The table below summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the two different solutions:

Whatever the type of bearing chosen, Extralite pays great attention to the coupling between bearing, hub body and fork axle, selecting the components based on tolerances in order to guarantee the best smoothness and durability. The HyperLefty 3 hub is also equipped with a protection system from dirt and external agents thanks to a Teflon ring that is interposed between the hub and the fork and which further protects the bearing on the disc side despite being already equipped with double protection. The bearing on the opposite side is protected by the tightening screw and its ring nut. These precautions allow an excellent life of the bearings despite the reduced size and weight.

With a weight of only 76 grams, the HyperLefty 3 is the lightest MTB Lefty hub in the world, it allows a considerable weight saving, but it does so without compromising reliability and performance, thanks to the precautions adopted and the great build quality and materials used. The series of Extralite HyperBoost hubs has been present on the market for years and with its continuous evolution it maintains what is a primacy not only on the scale but also in technology. These are the hubs we use to assemble our lightest custom wheels (you will also find rear boost hub and front boost hub on our webshop) so do not hesitate to ask us for further information or quotes, even for complete wheels solutions that you cannot currently find on our website.
