Passo del Tonale is located in the heart of the Italian Alps and is a place where a cyclist's effort is proof of his devotion and where lightness becomes a weapon that can hardly be given up. With weights starting from just 88 grams, the Alpitude Tonale is among the lightest seatposts in the world compatible with Specialized Tarmac SL8 frames and is produced in the Italian Alps with high standards of quality and materials.
It is made in both a Straight version with 0 mm offset and a Setback version with -15 mm offset, and is equipped with a new saddle clamping system with a monolithic upper clamp that allows micrometric adjustment in maximum safety. It is therefore possible to mount saddles equipped with a traditional round rails (7 x 7 mm) or oval rails (7 x 9 mm). The adjustment range is very wide also in terms of saddle inclination and allows you to adapt to the preferences of each biker.
Alpitude Tonale seatpost is made in 250/300/350/400 mm lengths (not shortable).
The structure of the carbon tube is designed to optimize weight, therefore it features specific reinforcements in the clamping area and therefore has a limited operating range (highlighted on the back of the tube by two white marks):
Before making any purchase we always recommend measuring the portion of the seatpost out of the frame and checking that it falls within the range of use of the chosen seatpost length (remember that the reference measurement is considered from the end of the frame to the support surface of the saddle rails on the seat post). The main tube of the Alpitude Tonale seatpost is made of high modulus pre-impregnated carbon fiber where unidirectional and bidirectional fibers are laminated in such a way as to obtain the best possible stiffness/weight ratio. Thicknesses and sections are variable to optimize the weight and reinforce only the areas that are actually most stressed. The use of a special internal shaped silicone bleeder allows perfect compaction of the fibers during the production phase. It is a refined solution that very few other manufacturers use, but it is one of the only ways to guarantee truly superior quality.
The saddle clamping system is, as mentioned, new and also refined and does not include the two classic separate clamps but a single monolithic carbon fiber plate with sinuous shapes and capable of guaranteeing safe support on the saddle rails without sharp edges that could damage them. The central cradle is also made of carbon fiber with the same principle and has large end areas specially shaped to accommodate the saddle rails in the best possible way. The absence of sharp edges and the large contact surface guarantee full compatibility even with saddles equipped with carbon fiber rails.
The adjustment is micrometric and takes place by acting on two 7075T6 CNC aluminum nuts screwed onto two special high quality grade 5 titanium threaded pins which in turn are fixed to the seatpost head via threaded bushings embedded in the carbon structure. Two special semi-cylindrical bushes in 7075T6 CNC aluminum are housed in the upper plate and allow you to manage the inclination adjustment without friction and optimally distributing the loads without creating localized stress. the entire hardware has a black finish.
With a weight starting from just 88 g. the Alpitude Tonale is among the lightest seatposts in the world compatible with Specialized Tarmac SL8 frames! The weight tolerance is approximately +/- 4%, while the lightest finish is the 3k, the 1k finish adds approximately 3-7 grams of weight and the UD adds approximately 5-9 grams of weight (again compared to the 3k, the increase in weight is proportional to the length of the seat post).

However, the extreme lightness does not come at the expense of safety, reliability or performance, it is in fact a very high quality and therefore very safe product, which complies with the regulations and brilliantly passes the ISO 4210 safety tests. For its design, CAD software was used and FEM finite element analyzes were carried out as well as laboratory and homologation tests. The maximum rider weight limit allowed is 95 kg.
Installing the Alpitude Tonale seatpost is a simple operation but requires the right attention. In addition to using a torque wrench to respect the tightening torques (maximum 4 Nm for the seat clamp and maximum 3 Nm for the saddle fixing), it is very important to adequately prepare the surfaces that will come into contact with the tube, avoiding the presence of sharp edges (just follow the detailed instructions supplied).
The seatpost can be chosen with either a 3k twill or 1k or unidirectional UD natural carbon weave, the finish is matte. The upper clamp and the cradle are made of 3k weave. The aluminum and titanium hardware is in black color.
On the right side of the tube there is the Alpitude logo, it is a decal under transparent varnish (therefore not removable). It is a discreet and elegant writing (not very invasive) which matches well with that present on the Alpitude Gardena saddles (the ideal combination).
The seatpost is supplied in an elegant package which also includes the user manual (in English language).
